My week at Miller started off on a good note since I was still happy after I survived my first AMA race (Infineon) the weekend before and finished in the top 10. My dad and I pulled into Miller Motorsports Park at noon on Thursday so I decided that I would go on a road bike ride around the track. I figured out where my brake points were again and loosened up from the drive.
Friday morning came and the first practice went good. We went out on the AMA Supersport-spec bike with my old Pirellis on and ran 2:05s, which was already faster then I could go last year! Practice went good for the first day, I ended up getting down to the 2:03.
Saturday I got one session in before the endurance race got started and I wasn't really up to speed, so I just decided to go on a pedal by Tooele. Saturday night we could here the rain hitting the roof of the motor home.
Sunday when I got up I was excited as I've never ridden in the rain and it was pouring down. We got the rain tires on the bike and I went out for my first practice and it went horrible! I could only run a 2:35, wow! The second round went way better, I got down to 2:20s so I was happy about that.
The first race came and it was 600 Production and I got 6th. I was so happy I didn't crash and my fastest lap time was a 2:17 on my Pirelli rain tires and the front guys only got down to 2:16. The last 3 races went OK; I ended up with a 8th in 750 Production as the track dried up and we were all on rain tires and I didn't know how much I could push the tires in the dry. The other 2 races we put DOTs on and I ran a 2-minute flat on a green track; I ended up getting 10th and 11th.
I would like to thank everyone that has helped me: G&B Cycle Pro, West Coast GP Cycles, Catalyst Reaction Suspension and Tuning, Joe Rocket, Pirelli, CT Racing, AttackPerformance.com and a special thanks to www.2wheeltimes.com!
