Team Green Kawasaki To Race SCORE Baja 1000 Again?
By Michael Hannas
With the recent announcement by defending SCORE Baja 1000 Champion #1X Robby Bell that he will be moving from JCR Honda to Kawasaki for an assualt on the 2009 WORCS Championship came mention that he is looking into the possibility of racing a Kawasaki in the 2009 SCORE Baja 1000.
Factory Honda has been the only factory effort down at Baja with the exception of one appearance by KTM since Kawasaki stopped racing the event following the tragic death of Team Green legend Danny Hamel over a decade ago. Kawasaki was dominant at Baja with the KX500 and Hamel, and it would be awesome to see a factory-supported green machine pulling out of Ensenada next year.
With multi-time AMA Hare and Hound Champion Destry Abbott back on Team Green for 2009, Kawasaki has the potential to create a very competitive effort for Baja that could very possibly end Honda's impressive run down in Mexico. While Bell will be racing the new fuel-injected 2009 KX450F in WORCS and selected AMA Motocross events, he will most likely opt for the KLX450F if he does race Baja in 2009.
Keep your fingers crossed.
