2007 and 2008 AMA District 36 Enduro A Open Champion Joel Burkett of Penngrove, California has been selected to represent the USA as a member of Desert MC Club team in the 2009 running of the F.I.M. International Six Day Enduro in Portugal and is throwing a fundraiser in hopes of securing the necessary funds to compete at the highest level in what is known as "The Olympics of Motorcycles." This year's ISDE event will consist of riders from 32 countries that will compete as teams representing their own country and will cover 1250 miles of grueling special test sections and long transfer sections in Portugal from October 12 through October 17.
Burkett is having a benefit dinner and auction to raise funds on Sunday, August 2nd from 1:00PM to 4:30PM at Penngrove Park on Main Street in Penngrove and is inviting all local riders and racers out to help support the cause. Your $20 donation gets you a pasta dinner and one drink plus one free ticket for the raffle, with additional raffle tickets on sale that enter you to win a variety of prizes from local businesses.
There will be lots of fun activities for all ages, with a 50/50 Card Game, Tire Change Challenge, Bidding Auction, and even some games for the kids.
Come on out and support a local racer's dreams to represent the USA at the ISDE.
