Arai’s New Corsair - V Hitting Stores Soon...
Arai has released an updated version of their top-of-the-line street and road race lid, the Corsair-V. Worn by MotoGP racers John Hopkins, Nicky Hayden, Colin Edwards, and Kenny Roberts Junior when he was still racing, the Corsair has been the choice of top American racers for many years. The new Corsair-V incorporates many updates learned in the past few years by the technical department at Arai that ensure it will remain at the top of the helmet heap for years to come.

The Corsair-V has larger upper vent tabs that make opening and closing the vents easier, which was sometimes difficult on the previous model, especially with thick winter gloves on. The new Hyper-Ridge around the bottom of the shell enhances shell strength as well as making the bottom opening larger, which makes the helmet easier to get on and off without increasing shell size or weight.
The Corsair-V also uses Arai’s new “I” shield, which is 5mm longer on each side to go with the 10mm wider eyeport, increasing peripheral vision for the rider. The new shield attaches to the helmet via a new and improved base plate, and has small plastic guides that help the shield to open and close more smoothly.
Arai has implemented their latest generation Dry Cool liner, with the rear mounting snaps in a new location, which throws out the idea of retrofitting the new liner to your old Corsair. The neckroll is now removable and has new exhaust channels to draw out hot air, while the cheek pads get the exclusive Emergency Release Tab feature from the VX-Pro 3. New brow vents direct cool air to the rider’s temple area, reducing fatigue.
The biggest news though is the new adjustable Arai AirWing, which is an adjustable rear air deflector designed to stabilize the helmet at high speeds. The Arai exclusive AirWing offers five different positions of adjustment, with your selection depending on the type of bike and riding position.
It looks like Arai has made one of 2WheelTimes' favorite helmets even better than before, and we didn’t think that was possible. We’ll let you know how it works just as soon as we get our hands on one!
